New Traffic Fine Rules: If you take traffic rules lightly, then you should be careful now. The government has made changes in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 2026 (Driving License Rules 2026), due to which the rules related to challan and driving have become more strict than before. Now just paying the fine will not be enough, but if you repeatedly break the rules, your driving license can also be cancelled.
Actually, the purpose of the new system is to improve road safety. The government wants people to follow traffic rules and reduce accidents. Therefore, this time preparations have been made to strictly implement the rules.
What will happen if there are 5 challans?
According to the new rule, if a person has 5 or more challans issued within a year, his driving license will be canceled directly. Earlier the license used to be suspended for some time, but now this will not happen. This means that those who repeatedly break the rules will now have to suffer huge losses. Therefore, ignoring small mistakes can prove costly now.
It is necessary to pay the challan within 45 days
It has also been decided in the new rule that after the challan is issued, it will be necessary to pay it within 45 days. If any person does not pay the challan on time, strict action will be taken against him. Now keeping the challan pending with the thought that later we will go to the Lok Adalat and get it forgiven, would not be right. After the new rules you will not get this opportunity.
Vehicle is at risk of being blacklisted
If there is a pending challan on your vehicle, it may be blacklisted. Once the vehicle is blacklisted, you will not be able to do many important tasks. Such as transferring the ownership of the vehicle, changing the address, getting a fitness certificate or getting a permit will become difficult. This means that the use of your vehicle may be limited.
Responsibility of vehicle owner increased
Now the responsibility of the vehicle owner has also increased more than before. If someone breaks the rules in your car, you will have to prove that it was not your fault. Apart from this, if the challan is pending, the traffic police can stop your vehicle and will not release it until the challan is deposited. However, if you feel that the challan is wrong, you can challenge it by going to court.
