Is Blood In Stool Always Piles Or Cancer: Bleeding in the toilet often scares people, and the first thing that comes to their mind is whether it is a serious disease. However, in most of the cases, it is caused by piles, which is a common and treatable problem. But doctors say that it is not right to take it lightly every time, because in some cases this symptom can also be a sign of a serious disease like anal cancer.
What is the problem of piles?
Talking about piles, it is a condition in which the veins around the rectum or anus become swollen. This problem can occur due to aging, constipation, sitting for too long or pregnancy. In piles, bright red blood usually appears during toilet, along with this itching, burning and slight swelling may also be felt. It is a matter of relief that its symptoms often subside on their own after some time or are cured with simple treatment.

When should one be careful?
According to the report of prolifecancercentre which gives information about cancer, if this bleeding starts coming again and again or persists for a long time, then it is important to be alert. Anal cancer is a rare but serious disease in which abnormal cells start growing rapidly in or around the anus. In the beginning its symptoms may seem similar to piles, due to which many people get confused.
What is the difference?
It is very important to understand the difference between the two. Bleeding in piles usually comes only during toilet and stops after some time, whereas in anal cancer, bleeding can be continuous and its color can also be slightly dark. Similarly, the pain in piles often increases while using the toilet or while sitting, but in cancer, the pain can remain constant and increase with time.
Also, if you notice a change in bowel habits, such as frequent visits to the toilet or change in the shape of stool, do not ignore it. Unexplained weight loss, feeling tired or formation of lump around the anus can also be serious signs. Doctors clearly say that if blood is seen for more than a week, pain increases or any new symptoms are added, then immediate investigation should be done. Especially people above 50 years of age should not ignore such signs at all.
