If you are dreaming of becoming a teacher in Uttar Pradesh, then there is big news for you. The application process for UPTET 2026 is about to start and this time some important changes have also been made. The special thing is that now before applying, it will be mandatory for all the candidates to do OTR i.e. One-Time Registration. Without this you will not be able to fill the form.
This time the dates related to the examination have already been announced so that the candidates can prepare in time. The application process will start from 27 March 2026 and will continue till 26 April 2026. Whereas, the examination will be conducted on 2, 3 and 4 July 2026. Therefore, candidates are advised not to wait for the last date and apply on time.
UPTET is not just an exam but the first step to become a teacher. It is mandatory to pass this examination to become a teacher in government and aided schools of Uttar Pradesh. Without this you cannot apply for teacher recruitment. This is the reason why every year lakhs of candidates appear in this examination.
Why is OTR necessary?
This time the biggest change has come with the OTR system. OTR i.e. One-Time Registration is a process in which the candidate has to fill his basic information only once. After this, a unique OTR ID is obtained, which can be used in all further recruitments. This OTR ID has been made mandatory to apply for UPTET 2026. That means without OTR you will not be able to proceed with the application process.

What should be the qualification?
There are two levels in UPTET exam Primary and Upper Primary.
- For Primary level (Class 1 to 5), the candidate must have passed 12th and must have D.El.Ed or similar diploma.
- For Upper Primary level (Class 6 to 8) the candidate must have at least 50% marks in graduation and B.Ed or D.El.Ed degree.
How to apply for UPTET 2026?
Filling the UPTET form has now become a little more organized than before. First of all, the candidate has to complete his registration by going to the OTR portal. After this, photo, signature and necessary documents will have to be uploaded. Then you will have to login with OTR ID and fill the application form in which information related to your educational qualification and examination level (Primary or Upper Primary) will be asked. After this, you will have to deposit the application fee through online mode and finally submit the form and take its print out.
