How Does Sporothrix Braziliensis Spread In Humans: A new case emerging in Uruguay has become a sign of great danger. This fungus named Sporothrix brasiliensis, which causes skin infection, is now seen spreading rapidly in South America. According to recent reports, this is not just one case but the beginning of an infection which will not be easy to control. Let us tell you how it spreads and what can be done to stop it.

How is this disease spreading?

According to the report of news website Earth, the most worrying thing is that cats are becoming its main source. Research found that in many areas of Uruguay, this infection spread to humans and animals through cats. The special thing was that many infected cats had no connection with each other, which clearly shows that this fungus has now spread at the local level.

According to scientists, Sporothrix brasiliensis is an emerging fungal threat, which was earlier limited to Brazil but is now spreading rapidly in other countries as well. The biggest reason for this is transmission through cats.

What are its reasons?

Wounds formed on the body of infected cats are the main center of this fungus. The amount of fungus is especially high around their face, nose and toes. When these cats scratch or bite a human, the fungus directly enters the skin and infection begins. Another reason is that street cats constantly roam around and fight among themselves. Due to this, the infection keeps spreading from one place to another and people are not even aware of it. This fungus can also change its form. Outside it is thread-like, but once inside the body it changes into a yeast-like form, due to which it starts growing rapidly inside the skin.

What are its symptoms?

Talking about the symptoms, this infection usually starts with a small red rash, which later turns into a wound. Many times such rashes keep spreading in a line. Whereas in cats these wounds do not heal quickly and hair starts falling. Doctors confirm this infection through lab tests, but sometimes it is mistaken for a common bacterial infection, due to which treatment is delayed. Although the good thing is that this disease can be cured, but timely and proper treatment is necessary. It can be more dangerous especially for children, elderly and people with weak immunity.
