What did the Health Ministry say?

According to the Health Ministry, in recent times many generic versions of these medicines have come in the market, after which their availability has increased rapidly. Now these medicines are easily available in retail medical stores, online platforms, wholesalers and even wellness clinics. The ministry has warned that their use without doctor’s supervision can cause serious side effects and health risks.

Advisory was issued earlier

Earlier on March 10, the government had also issued a detailed advisory to all the pharmaceutical companies, in which it was clearly stated that any kind of misleading advertising or indirect promotion should be banned. Special attention has been paid to such promotions, which can motivate people to take medicines without doctor’s advice. The government has intensified its action in recent weeks. Inspections and audits have been conducted at about 49 places in different states, which include warehouses of online pharmacies, drug sellers, wholesalers and slimming clinics. The purpose of these investigations is to ensure that rules are not being violated anywhere.
