The capital Delhi has once again been colored in the colors of cinema, where the seven-day long International Film Festival Delhi 2026 has started grandly. The presence of big stars and the felicitation ceremony on the very first day has made the atmosphere special.
Stars shined on the very first day, veterans got respect
On the inaugural day of the festival, many famous faces of the film industry were seen on the same stage. Dharmendra and Sharmila Tagore were saluted for their long and illustrious careers by giving them Lifetime Achievement Awards. Dharmendra’s honor was accepted by Hema Malini, which made the ceremony emotional. Many stars including Kriti Sanon, Vicky Kaushal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bhumi Pednekar and Rana Duggubati made the program more special with their presence.
Confluence of films from all over the world, glimpse of every genre
This time, screening of about 125 films has been scheduled in the festival, which will be shown in different theaters as well as on open stages. The audience will get to experience diverse genres like fiction, non-fiction, documentary and animation on a single platform. Along with this, new experiments like Film Market and Expo are making this event more modern.
New experience every day, journey from classic to AI
Something new will be seen every day during the festival. Along with special screenings of classic films, there will also be discussions on modern topics like Artificial Intelligence in film making. The screening of the restored version of Sholay remains a special attraction for the audience. Besides, dialogue sessions will also be organized with artists like Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher and Piyush Mishra.
Pune organized with global participation, Delhi becomes film hub
This film festival has received about 2000 entries from more than 100 countries, which reflects its international identity. Emphasis has also been laid on ensuring participation of common people in this event being organized at major places of the capital. Gala premieres, special screenings and presentations of new technologies are taking the festival to a different level.
