A big news has come from China. Now the government there has implemented a new framework to reduce the increasing study pressure on students. In this new system, there has been a clear ban on giving more homework, conducting frequent examinations and reducing the break time of children.
These guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of Education of China. Their objective is clear that education is important, but children’s health is even more important. For a long time, the education system there has been considered very exam-centric. Now the government seems to be gradually distancing itself from this thinking.
Ban on excessive homework and repeated exams
Under the new rules, schools will no longer be able to give more homework to children than necessary. Besides, the habit of taking exams on small matters has also been banned. Officials say that the examination should not be used as a means to select or filter students.

Another important thing is that teachers will no longer be assessed on the basis of topper students. This means that no teacher will be rewarded or punished because of students scoring good marks in major exams. This will help in reducing study pressure.
Break time and sports are necessary
In this framework, great importance has been given to children’s break time. Schools will no longer be able to cut children’s rest time. It would be against the rules to stop children from going out of the classroom or to prevent them from going out during breaks.
In the orders issued earlier, it was also decided that primary and secondary level students will have to do physical activity for at least two hours every day. That means sports, jumping, running or any kind of physical activity will now be considered as important as studies.
No pressure to study at a young age
The new rules are not just for older children. Special attention has also been given to the kindergarten level. Schools have been given strict instructions not to teach primary class-like curriculum to young children. Due to increasing competition in cities, the burden of education on even small children had started increasing in many places. Now efforts are being made to stop this so that children learn and play according to their age.
