In Patna, the capital of Bihar, the police has taken the biggest and historic action so far against drug smuggling. The police have recovered a huge quantity of raw material for making drugs, about 21 kg of ‘brown sugar’ (smack).
The value of this seized consignment in the international market is estimated to be around Rs 25 crore. In this case, the police have arrested two smugglers and the most shocking thing is that the involvement of a Bihar Police soldier in this drugs syndicate has also come to light. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Karthikeya Sharma held a press conference on Saturday and informed about this big success.

‘Mini drug factory’ was running in Alamganj
SSP Karthikeya Sharma said that the police had been secretly investigating the growing network of dry drugs in Patna area for some time. In this sequence, a raid was conducted at a suspicious hideout in Alamganj police station area on Friday. Police arrested two accused from the spot, from whom some cash and 1.6 kg brown sugar (smack) were initially recovered. When the arrested accused were strictly interrogated, they revealed a ‘mini factory’ like arrangement where this drug was being prepared.
Weapons, cartridges and blank check recovered
When the police team reached the factory on the trail of the accused, the scene there was shocking. From there the police recovered about 20 kg of raw material. Overall the police seized 21.018 kg of high quality smack. Apart from drugs, two illegal weapons, live cartridges, some blank and signed checks have also been recovered from the spot.
Bihar Police jawan also included in the syndicate
A very serious revelation in this whole matter is that the role of a protector of law in this black drug trade has also come to light. Confirming this, SSP Sharma said, “In the investigation of this case, the name of a person (jawan) associated with Bihar Police has come to light. We are gathering solid evidence and information against him. That person is currently absconding, but he will be arrested soon and will be rigorously interrogated.”
From supplier to seller on police radar
Patna Police is now preparing to root out this entire network. The SSP made it clear that no person involved in drug trafficking and sale will be spared. The police is investigating direct and indirect links from the suppliers to the ‘sellers’ selling it on the streets. All the suspects are on the police radar and soon some more big arrests may be made in this case.
