The police of Shahdara district of Delhi has achieved a major success in curbing the incidents of mobile snatching and theft. Under ‘Operation Vishwas’, the police have recovered a total of 320 mobile phones through technical surveillance and raids in several states.

The estimated price of these smartphones is around Rs 50 lakh. In a special program organized in the DCP office premises on Saturday, the police handed over all these phones to their rightful owners, after receiving which people’s faces lit up with joy.

CEIR portal and technical surveillance did wonders

This special campaign was started from January 1, 2026 under the supervision of DCP Rajendra Prasad Meena of Shahdara district. The command of this entire operation was in the hands of the technical team of ASI Deepak Kumar, Head Constable Gagan Deep, Tejveer Singh and Manoj Kumar. The team effectively used the Government of India’s ‘CEIR Portal’ along with traditional IMEI search and CDR (call detail record) analysis.

DCP said that 75 mobiles were tracked with the help of CEIR portal alone. Apart from Delhi, raids were also conducted in states like UP and Haryana to recover the phones.

Formation of 13 special teams

To make the operation successful, 13 special teams were formed from different police stations of the district. The recovery from different police stations was as follows:

  • Police Station Shahdara: 88 Mobile

  • Police Station Seemapuri: 51 Mobile

  • Police station floor market: 21 mobiles

Apart from this, teams from Vivek Vihar, Jagatpuri, Gandhi Nagar, Krishna Nagar and MS Park police stations also contributed significantly in this seizure operation.

What were the cases and how was the recovery graph?

Out of these 320 mobile phones recovered, most of them had fallen or were lost. According to the data:

  • 259 phones were lost.
  • 42 phones were stolen.
  • 13 were victims of phone snatching.
  • 5 phones were related to cases of theft in homes.

The graph of ‘Operation Vishwas’ is continuously increasing

This police campaign is not only curbing crime but is also strengthening the ‘confidence’ of the general public in the police system.
