Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation from the post of MLC on Monday (March 30, 2026). Sanjay Gandhi reached the Legislative Council with his resignation letter. The resignation has been accepted. Meanwhile, Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh has reacted.
Talking to the media, he said, “I have paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister in the morning. He has tendered his resignation. The process is underway and the seat will be declared vacant. We have had a good relationship for a long time. We have been maintaining it. The whole of Bihar is saddened by his departure.”
‘Today Bihar is counted among the developed states’
Awadhesh Narayan said that everyone is sad that such a good Chief Minister, a developing Chief Minister, a Chief Minister who takes everyone along, is going to the Center from among us. We will always feel pain that a Chief Minister who brought development and saw the ray of development in Bihar is leaving. Today Bihar is counted among the developed states.

‘Nobody can read anything from his face’
Journalists asked what did you feel when you went to meet Nitish Kumar in the morning? How did you feel while talking to him today? Regarding the CM’s reaction on this, Awadhesh Narayan said, “He is such a patient and loyal person that no one can read anything from his face in a conversation. We are sad that such a good man is leaving… but there is not the slightest wrinkle on his face.”
JDU MLC Sanjay Gandhi said on Nitish Kumar’s resignation from the post of MLC, “There was no emotional moment, the Chief Minister was feeling very comfortable. He follows the rules. We have been MLCs together for almost 20 years.”
