iPhone Lockdown Mode: Apple has made a big claim regarding the security of its users which has caught the attention of the tech world. According to the company, there has been no case of any iPhone being hacked when its special security feature Lockdown Mode is kept on. At a time when online fraud, data theft and cyber attacks are increasing rapidly, this feature emerges as a strong security shield for the users.
What is Lockdown Mode and why is it special?
Lockdown Mode is an advanced security feature specially designed for those who are at high risk of cyber attacks. People like journalists, activists or public figures can be included in this. However, common users can also use it to increase their security. This feature was added to iPhone as well as iPad and Mac devices in the year 2022. The company says that after turning on this mode, no Apple device has been confirmed to be hacked so far.
How does Lockdown Mode work?
This feature limits many functions to provide additional protection to your device. As soon as it is turned on, suspicious message attachments are blocked, some websites do not load completely and calls or invitations from unknown people are automatically blocked. Its purpose is clear to make it as difficult as possible for hackers to access your phone, even if some features have to be cut for this.
How to turn on Lockdown Mode
If you want to activate this feature in your iPhone, then first go to Settings. After this open the Privacy & Security section and scroll down and select Lockdown Mode option. Here tap on Turn On Lockdown Mode and then select Turn On & Restart. After this, as soon as you enter the passcode, this feature will be activated in your phone.
Why is this feature important amid cyber threats?
In today’s time, digital attacks have become smarter and more dangerous than before. Research has also revealed that some spyware tools stop trying to attack when Lockdown Mode is activated. Apart from this, Apple has also strengthened the system of warning its users about possible danger. In the last few years, the company has sent such alerts to users in more than 150 countries, which also includes India.
