Rajasthan Royals (RR) started their campaign in IPL 2026 with a resounding win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi played an important role in RR’s strong victory. This player, who scored a half-century in 15 balls, played a stormy innings of 52 runs in 17 balls. After the match, Vaibhav talked about his innings and partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi said, “Today’s plan was just to perform well in the powerplay. Initially the wicket seemed a bit sticky, but as the ball got older, it started coming on the bat well.”
Regarding his aggressive batting, Vaibhav said, “I do think about defence, but today our plan was to control the game in the powerplay, because this phase is very important while chasing a small target. If the bowling team does well there, the game can swing in their favor, but our powerplay was very good.”
The explosive left-handed batsman said, “The coaches had told me that I should stick to my natural game and play according to the conditions. My opening partner (Jaiswal) keeps talking to me after every ball. He tells me when to take singles. He keeps giving me strikes. If the ball is coming well on the bat, he gives me courage to keep playing my shots.”
Talking about the match, CSK, who came to bat first after losing the toss, were all out for 127 runs in 19.4 overs. RR scored 128 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 12.1 overs and won the match by 8 wickets. RR fast bowler Nandre Berger was the player of the match. Burger took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs.
