Despite some minor ups and downs, this trend of exports seems to be continuously moving upwards. Defense exports crossed Rs 10,000 crore for the first time in 2018-19. After this, there was a slight decline during the Corona epidemic. Then it increased rapidly from 2021-22.
Only between 2023-24 to 2025-26, exports increased from Rs 21,083 crore to Rs 38,424 crore. This shows that the demand for defense equipment and systems made in India is very high at the global level. The government has set a target of taking defense exports to Rs 50,000 crore by 2029.
