Stock Market Today: The Indian stock market is witnessing a decline on Thursday, April 9, the fourth trading day of the week. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 have slipped.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened with a decline of 243.57 points or 0.31 percent. Sensex started the day at the level of 77,319.33. At the same time, NSE Nifty 50 also started the day negative. Nifty 50 slipped 88.30 points or 0.37 percent and opened at the level of 23,909.05.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 77,261 points, down by 300 points. Whereas Nifty 50 had slipped 113 points and was trading at the level of 23,883.
BSE’s top gainers and losers
NTPC, Tata Steel, PowerGrid, ITC and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Whereas Sunpharma, Indigo, Adani Port, Eternal and L&T were the top losers.
How was the market on Wednesday?
There was a strong rise in the Indian stock market on the trading day of Wednesday, April 8. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 ended the day trading in the green. Sensex closed at 77,562.90 points with a rise of 2946.32 points or 3.95 percent, while NSE Nifty 50 closed at 23,997.35 points with a rise of 873.70 points or 3.78 percent.
IndiGo, L&T, Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra and Axis Bank were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma and Power Grid were there.
There was a rise in the shares of Nifty 100, Nifty Auto, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Bank, Nifty IT and Nifty Midcap 100. On Wednesday’s trading day, 27 shares from BSE basket closed in the green and 3 shares recorded a decline.
