Ceasefire has been announced between Iran and America, but at present Lebanon remains a battlefield. Both America and Israel have made it clear that there has been no agreement regarding Lebanon and Israel will continue to attack until Hezbollah is completely destroyed. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said on Thursday (9 April 2026) that at least 89 people were killed and 700 injured in Israeli attacks in Beirut.

War on Hezbollah in the Middle East

Hezbollah is a Shia militia armed group, which is considered a proxy of Iran’s IRGC. It also supports Hamas in its war with Israel. However, the enmity between Lebanon and Israel started right from the birth of the countries. On Wednesday, hours after the ceasefire, Israel fired 100 missiles at Lebanon. After this attack, Trump was left with three options: first – to restart the war, second – to pursue diplomacy and third – to put pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu to step back.

Citing this Israeli action, Tehran fired missiles at Tel Aviv and other Gulf countries. Not only this, Iran again started the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on 9 April. Iran says that Lebanon should be included in any agreement, whereas America and Israel do not want this. Trump bluntly said that any attack on Beirut would be considered a separate clash. He said that Lebanon has been kept out of the ceasefire because of Hezbollah. However, Trump also said that a solution will be found.

Iran accused of breaking ceasefire

Iran accused America of violating three conditions of the ceasefire agreement. He said that ceasefire and talks with America are inappropriate. US President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire on Wednesday (April 8, 2026). After the ceasefire, an oil refinery was attacked on Iran’s Lavan Island. According to the report of news agency Associated Press, after this attack, Tehran also attacked Kuwait and UAE. Iran termed the attack on the oil refinery as an enemy attack.
