LPG Cylinder Price on April 12: After the start of the war between America and Israel in Iran in February, the government increased the prices of both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders. This increase in prices was due to supply shortage due to blockage in the Strait of Hormuz. It is an important route for energy shipment around the world.
India imports about 60 percent of its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) needs and half of its natural gas needs and a large part of these fuels comes from West Asian countries, so the pressure due to these disruptions is being felt very much and immediately.
How much did the prices increase?
Despite the shortage of supply in recent weeks, the government has been trying to ensure that LPG prices remain stable in the country. The government has also continuously advised the customers to avoid panic booking and depositing of LPG cylinders. Meanwhile, domestic LPG prices have changed once, while commercial cooking gas prices have changed twice in the last two months, impacting restaurants, eateries and other businesses more.
The special thing is that in March, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 60, but after that there was no change in the prices, due to which the prices of domestic LPG remained stable across the country. At the same time, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder was first increased by Rs 144 in March, after which it was further increased by about Rs 200 on April 1.
