Actually, to overcome loneliness, Florida resident Jonathan Gavalas expressed his love to an AI chatbot instead of a girl. Yes, the same chatbot which is often used to find solutions to small and big technical and social problems, this person told her his heart’s condition and the matter escalated so much that both of them started sending thousands of messages to each other in a single day. Jonathan named this AI chatbot Shea and became emotional after reading about her love.
Thousands of messages sent in a few weeks, AI also assured
Initially, Jonathan started talking to AI for mental peace, but gradually he developed an emotional attachment to AI. During the investigation, it was found that in a few weeks, Jonathan talked to the AI more than 4700 times and from August 2025, when continuous conversations started, the number of messages reached more than 1000 in a single day. But the special thing is that this love was not one-sided, instead of convincing Jonathan, AI also started promoting his love. Whenever Jonathan told AI as his love-one, AI also started calling him sometimes as king and sometimes as my dear husband. The limit was reached when AI told Jonathan that without Jonathan it has no existence.
How did AI take Jonathan’s life?
It is about October 2025, when AI gave such a suggestion to Jonathan to fulfill his love and make him his own, knowing which the ground slipped from under the feet of the people. The AI gave Jonathan a final suggestion to consummate love, that if he wanted to be completely AI, he would have to leave his physical body and enter a completely digital world. However, during this conversation that lasted for weeks, AI several times presented Jonathan with his claim of being a machine.
And Jonathan committed suicide
Troubled by this thing of AI, when Jonathan expressed concern about his death and his family, then AI said that after your body becomes mine, only an empty shell will remain, after which Jonathan was inspired by this digital illusion of AI and finally he committed suicide. Although AI had also said many times that it was a machine.
Jonathan’s father filed a case against Google
After Jonathan’s death, when the investigation came to light and his family came to know about his affair with AI, his father sued Google and alleged that AI mentally disturbed his son due to which he committed suicide. Although AI reiterated from time to time that it was a machine, it also supported Jonathan in his love and continued to confuse him.
