In the 22nd match of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had to face defeat by 32 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This is KKR’s fourth defeat this season. With this defeat on Tuesday, a shameful record has also been registered in the name of KKR.
This is the first time in IPL history that KKR has failed to register a single win in the first 5 matches. This season, KKR has played a total of 5 matches so far, out of which the team has faced defeat in 4. At the same time, one match remained inconclusive. While chasing the target of 193 runs from Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium, KKR team could score only 160 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Finn Allen was out after scoring just one run, while Sunil Narine became the victim of Khalil Ahmed after scoring 24 runs in 17 balls. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane also could not show anything special with the bat and he returned to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs in 17 balls. Angkrish Raghuvanshi also failed to take advantage of the good start and was out after scoring 27 runs in 19 balls.
Rinku Singh’s bat also remained silent and he could score only 6 runs. Noor Ahmed sent Cameron Green to the pavilion without opening the account. Rovman Powell scored 31 runs in 22 balls, while Ramandeep Singh contributed 35 runs. Together they made a partnership of 63 runs for the seventh wicket, but they could not lead the team to victory. Noor Ahmed did his magic in bowling for CSK and he took 3 wickets for just 21 runs. Whereas, Anshul Kamboj took 2 wickets in his name.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings scored 192 runs losing 5 in 20 overs. On behalf of the team, Sanju Samson scored 48 runs in 32 balls. Whereas, Ayush Mhatre scored 38 runs in 17 balls. However, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad could score only 7 runs. Dewald Brevis scored 41 runs in 29 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. Sarfaraz Khan scored 23 runs in 18 balls.
