ED on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) raided several locations linked to Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP and deputy leader of the party in Rajya Sabha, Ashok Kumar Mittal. This action was taken in case of alleged violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act i.e. FEMA. After this action, Aam Aadmi Party leaders targeted the Central Government and strongly criticized this raid of ED. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that BJP has started preparations for the upcoming 2027 assembly elections in Punjab. He wrote on social media platform X that the people of Punjab will not tolerate this and will give a befitting reply to BJP.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also reacted to this action. He said that BJP is using agencies before the elections. He wrote that the ED raid on Ashok Mittal’s house and university is typical Modi style and it is an attempt to create pressure. He also said that his party is not going to come under any pressure. AAP leader Manish Sisodia also accused the central government that whenever elections are held in any state, agencies like ED and CBI are sent first. He called it a fixed pattern and said that after this visits of big leaders take place. Sisodia also said that this kind of politics will not work in Punjab.

Statement of AAP MP Sanjay Singh

Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh has given a sharp statement regarding the central government and the investigating agencies. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parrot knows very well which direction to turn and it becomes active only where elections are about to be held. According to him, the incidents that are coming to light before the Punjab elections are part of this pattern.

Sanjay Singh said that the action taken against Ashok Mittal, including the ED raid, is just a beginning. They allege that such action is being taken to put pressure on Aam Aadmi Party leaders before the elections and more such actions may be seen in the future. He also said that this is not a new thing, but similar activities are seen before every election.
