Women Reservation Bill: The Women’s Reservation Bill presented by the Central Government in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the country’s Parliament, could not be passed on Friday (April 17, 2026). A total of 298 MPs gave their support in favor of this important bill, while 230 MPs voted against it. Union Minister Giriraj Singh has blamed Congress and Indi alliance for the failure of the bill giving rights to the country’s women power and 33 percent reservation in the House. He said that the women power of the country has today seen the face of the entire opposition including the Congress.

After the results of voting on the Women’s Reservation Bill were revealed, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 11 am the next day on Saturday (April 18, 2026). While talking to the media in the Parliament complex after the adjournment of the House, Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed anger over the non-passage of this bill.
He said, ‘The people and women power of the entire country have clearly seen the way Congress and all the parties involved in the Indi alliance have worked to destroy the bill brought for the benefit of the women of the country. The country has seen his face. In the coming days, all of them will have to pay every penny.

At the same time, during the discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Amendment Bill of Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023 i.e. Women’s Reservation Bill, Leader of Opposition in the House Rahul Gandhi made remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s comment, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, ‘Today, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi came to the Lok Sabha as the leader of the opposition to express his views on the Women’s Reservation Bill, but when he started presenting his views on the floor of the House, he started talking about the government, magicians and sorcerers, then what about the field, in such a situation, the talks on Nari Shakti Act went somewhere and those things which should not be talked about in the House, words which should not be used, he started talking such indecent things and so on. While speaking, he started talking about the bravery of the army, Balakot airstrike and Operation Sindoor.
He said, ‘I cannot call Rahul Gandhi a joker or a magician, but he was acting in the same manner as if he was standing in a theater rather than in Parliament. I was surprised that they were also speaking the same language that Pakistan speaks regarding Operation Sindoor. They were speaking the language of the enemy country. Questions were being raised on the bravery of the army. They were hurting the dignity of the Prime Minister,’
