Chennai Super Kings suffered a big blow when Khalil Ahmed was ruled out of IPL 2026 due to injury. The team is in great need of his replacement and the news is that CSK has contacted Mumbai Indians net bowler Akash Madhwal. According to Cricbuzz, Chennai team has kept the option of many other bowlers including Akash Madhwal open. Khalil Ahmed was injured in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Due to the injury suffered in the middle of the match, he could not even complete his 4 over spell.
Talking about Chennai Super Kings, left-arm spin bowler Kumar Karthikeya, right-arm fast bowler Adil Ayub Tunda and off-spinner Jaren Batcher coming from South Africa are their net bowlers.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has made it clear that some other bowlers including Mumbai Indians net bowler Akash Madhwal will be tried, after which the final decision will be taken on the replacement of Khalil Ahmed. It is being claimed on social media that among the bowlers whom CSK wants to try, apart from Mumbai Indians’ net bowler Akash Madhwal, Gujarat Titans’ Mani Grewal is also included.

Akash Madhwal made his IPL debut in 2023. So far in his IPL career, he has taken 23 wickets after playing 17 matches. In 2023, he took 5 wickets for 5 runs against Lucknow Super Giants. This is the best performance of his IPL career so far. Well, till now Chennai Super Kings has not given any official confirmation that Akash will be made the replacement of Khalil Ahmed.
