BCCI, Ajit Agarkar: Chief selector of Indian men’s team Ajit Agarkar is going to get a big gift from the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI. Reportedly, Agarkar’s contract is going to be increased. After Agarkar became the selector, Team India has won three ICC trophies, due to which the Indian Board seems ready to give him a big reward.

Let us tell you that Agarkar’s current contract will end in June 2026. A report in the Indian Express said that Agarkar’s contract will be extended for one year. His contract will run till June 2027. At present, no official information has been given by BCCI in this regard.

Team India won three trophies

After Agarkar became the Chief Selector, Team India won three ICC trophies in the form of 2024 T20 World Cup, 2025 Champions Trophy and 2026 T20 World Cup. Apart from this, Men in Blue also played the final of the 2023 World Cup.

The report quoted a BCCI official as saying, “Agarkar has had a smooth transition in the team during his tenure and he has shown no hesitation in taking bold decisions. The board felt that he should continue in his post. BCCI officials will talk to him during the IPL matches and update him on the current situation.”

Ajit Agarkar’s international career

Talking about Agarkar’s international career, he played 26 Tests, 191 ODIs and 4 T20 Internationals. He took 58 wickets in 46 innings of the Test, in which the match best was 8/160. Agarkar took 288 wickets in 188 innings of ODI, in which the best was 6/42. Agarkar took 3 wickets in T20 International. While batting, Agarkar scored 571 runs in the test. Scored 1269 runs in ODI and 15 runs in T20 International. He scored 1 century in Test and 3 half-centuries in ODI.
