Former England captain Eoin Morgan has praised young batsman Priyansh Arya after his brilliant performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday. He has described Priyansh as an important part of the setup of Punjab Kings (PBKS) team.
Punjab Kings remain at the first position in the points table with a resounding 54-run win against Lucknow Super Giants. In the match played against LSG, Priyansh batted brilliantly and played a strong inning of 93 runs in just 37 balls. Priyansh hit 4 fours and 9 sixes in his innings.
He along with Cooper Connolly for the second wicket made a partnership of 182 runs in 80 balls, on the basis of which Punjab Kings made the biggest score of this season. The team scored 254 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target of 255 runs, LSG team could score only 200 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Morgan said on ‘Geostar’, ‘Punjab Kings have reached a very strong position, where they no longer depend only on their captain or any superstar to do well every time. He was so ahead of the game that individual contribution has become almost secondary. Punjab Kings have so much depth in their batting that they easily score 230-240 runs. This reduces the pressure on key players like Shreyas Iyer. When the batting order is playing well, it makes the team stronger.
On Priyansh Arya’s fearless batting approach, Morgan said, ‘It shows a clean and confident mindset. He comes across as a transparent thinker who is making the most of his opportunities with time. This is not just short-term good form, but part of the team’s long-term plan. Priyansh Arya is undoubtedly an important part of the Punjab Kings team.
On Cooper Connolly’s batting, Morgan said, “He is only 22 years old. When a young player comes into an environment like Punjab Kings, the biggest thing is how much his own stature increases. He appeared a little uncomfortable in the beginning. However, once he was set at the crease, he batted brilliantly.
