During the review meeting of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in Aligarh, State President Shaukat Ali Khan once again came into limelight for his attitude and statements. This meeting held at the party office in Shahjamal is being considered important for the organization, where on one hand the strategy for the upcoming 2027 assembly elections was clarified, while on the other hand a strict message was given regarding discipline and accountability within the organization.
Announcement to contest elections on 200 seats
In the meeting, Shaukat Ali Khan clearly said that AIMIM is preparing to contest about 200 seats in the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Akhilesh Yadav’s reply to BJP’s WANTED poster said- Cowards have no options.
He asked the workers and officials to identify potential candidates in their respective areas from now on and start working towards strengthening them. He said that the party will not enter the field just to contest the elections, but will give its full strength with the intention of winning.
During the review meeting, the attitude of the state president appeared quite strict. He said in clear words that officials who are not able to perform their responsibilities properly have no right to continue in office. He also said that now being an official in name only will not be tolerated and it is mandatory to work at the grassroots level.
Emphasis on strengthening the organization till booth level
The weaknesses of the organization were also openly discussed in the meeting. Shaukat Ali Khan admitted that the party’s hold in many areas is still weak and there is a need to strengthen it soon. He directed to form committees up to the booth level, organize regular meetings and increase activism on local issues. He asked the workers to go among the people and understand their problems and convey the party’s policies to the people.
While talking to the media, Shaukat Ali Khan also reiterated his old statement regarding the Meerut encounter. He said that he still stands by his statement and any kind of fake encounter cannot be accepted. He said that action should be taken only within the ambit of law and it is necessary to follow the judicial process.
After this meeting, the biggest discussion was about one of his statements, when he was asked why there is no youth state president in the party. To this he replied, Am I old? After his statement, the stir in the political circles has intensified and it is being linked to the ongoing tussle within the party.
Internal conflict regarding youth leadership
Actually, earlier Syed Nazim Ali was the youth state president of the party, but after his removal, this post has been vacant for a long time. No new face has been appointed till now, due to which the question arises as to why the decision regarding youth leadership is being postponed. Political experts are also considering this as a strategy to maintain balance within the leadership.
AIMIM, which is headed by Asaduddin Owaisi, is now trying to strengthen its ground in Uttar Pradesh. This meeting in Aligarh is being considered a big step in this direction. The way it has been said to activate the organization and speed up election preparations, it is clear that the party is serious about 2027.

Now it has to be seen how the party deals with these challenges and how much impact it can leave in the 2027 elections.
