West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 (West Bengal Election) An unprecedented security blueprint has been prepared, which has never been seen before. The state has almost been transformed into a fortress with the deployment of around 2.4 lakh Central Paramilitary Forces (CAPFs). This is considered to be the biggest security deployment so far in any state election. Central forces, state police and additional armed personnel are working together on a multi-layer security plan to ensure that the voting is completely fair and peaceful.
Preparations complete, it will be impossible to cross the security grid
This time, to further strengthen the security strategy, an unprecedented meeting of DG level of CAPF was held in Kolkata, in which top officials of CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB participated. In this high-level meeting held at the CRPF headquarters in Salt Lake, an integrated security grid was prepared in collaboration with state police and Election Commission officials. According to officials, this is the first time that all CAPF chiefs have gathered together in a state before any election.
The security situation on the ground is equally strict. Additional forces have been deployed at sensitive and violence-affected booths. Armored vehicles like Marksman and Shaurya are deployed for safe movement of soldiers and quick action. Apart from this, about 3,000 additional armed policemen have also been called from other states.

What is Shaurya and Marksman?
Before the upcoming assembly elections in Kolkata, security arrangements have been strengthened at an unprecedented level. Special armored vehicles Shaurya and Marksman have been brought to West Bengal. These vehicles are being deployed on the roads and major intersections of the city, due to which the attention of the common people is also being attracted towards them. Shaurya and Marksman are state-of-the-art armored vehicles, specially designed for internal security and crowd control.
These have bullet-resistant body, blast-protection capability, high ground clearance and the ability to move easily in difficult terrains. These vehicles are capable of safely carrying a large number of security personnel and are equipped with modern communication systems, surveillance equipment and special features for quick response to emergencies.
Voting will take place only within Lakshman Rekha
‘Lakshman Rekha’ of 100 meters has been implemented around every booth, where only voters and authorized officials will be able to enter. Multi-layer ID verification system is implemented to prevent fake voting. CCTV, body cameras and advanced surveillance technology are being used for surveillance.
Hi-tech fort will remain impenetrable even after voting
This time the security in the elections will appear completely high-tech. CCTV cameras, body cameras and modern surveillance systems are being installed at polling stations to keep an eye on every activity. This will make it possible to take immediate action on any irregularity or suspicious activity. Security will not be limited to voting only. Even after the voting is over, strict monitoring will be maintained on EVMs, strong rooms and counting centres. QRT (Quick Response Team) and anti-sabotage investigation will remain continuously active. CAPF officials say this is not just a security mission but a mission to protect democracy—where every vote will be safe and fair.
