Bengal Assembly Election 2026: Amidst the West Bengal elections 2026, a fierce clash was seen between TMC and BJP in Ekbalpur, Kolkata, which made the entire area tense. Police have arrested 9 people in this incident, including 5 BJP and 4 TMC workers.

FIR registered against BJP candidate Rakesh Singh

Two FIRs have been registered against BJP candidate Rakesh Singh. The charges include obstructing the work of a government employee, assault, damaging government property. After the clash between Trinamool Congress and BJP in Ekbalpur, the situation became war-like. Those arrested in this incident include 5 BJP workers and 4 Trinamool workers.

A total of 3 FIRs have been registered in the Ekbalpur case, out of which 2 are registered in the name of BJP candidate Rakesh Singh. It is alleged that a policeman’s body cam was snatched. Apart from this, serious allegations like obstructing the work of a government employee, assaulting him and damaging government property have also been made.

Why is the outcome of the election uncertain?

During the incident, the situation went out of control on Hussain Shah Road and the police had to resort to lathicharge. BJP alleges that TMC supporters attacked during the rally, while TMC said it was the result of BJP’s provocative statement.

Overall, this violence in Ekbalpur is raising big questions on the increasing political tension and law and order in the election environment. This time the contest on Kolkata Port seat has become interesting and multi-cornered. The main contest is being considered between BJP’s Rakesh Singh and TMC’s sitting MLA and minister Firhad Hakim. At the same time, Faiyaz Ahmed Khan (CPM) and Aaqib Gulzar (Congress) are also making this contest interesting. With candidates from four major parties in the fray, the distribution of votes is considered certain, making the outcome of the election even more uncertain.
