Apple New CEO: An important change has been made at the leadership level in the world’s famous tech company Apple. On Monday, the company announced that John Ternes has been appointed as the new CEO. 50 year old Ternes will now take charge of the company.
This decision has been taken at a time when the company is going through a rapidly changing phase of Artificial Intelligence. Current CEO Tim Cook will step down on September 1. However, he will remain associated with the company and will play the role of executive chairman. Cook was heading the company since 2011.
Who is Apple’s new CEO John Ternes?
John Ternes has been working at Apple for a long time and he joined the company in 2001. In the last 25 years, he has held many big roles related to product design and hardware engineering and has been a part of important projects of the company.
Before Apple, his experience was in virtual research systems. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Talking about career growth, in 2013 he became the Vice President of Hardware Engineering and in 2021, he was included in the executive team of the company.
What did Tim Cook say?
Tim Cook has praised John Ternes a lot. According to Bloomberg’s report, Cook said that Ternus has the mind of an engineer and the energy of an innovator.
He also has the ability to lead with integrity. Calling Turnus a visionary, Cook said that it is not easy to put into words his 25-year contribution to Apple. He further said that, he is the right choice to take the company forward.
Big role in product development
John Ternes has been a part of the development of many major Apple products. Which includes iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and AirPods. Recently, he played an important role in introducing iPhone Air.
Apart from this, his contribution is also considered important in bringing the sales of Mac back on track.
