US Iran Peace Talks: Amidst the ongoing tension between America and Iran, the ceasefire deadline has ended, but no concrete solution has come forward yet. Diplomatic efforts have suffered a setback due to lack of positive response from Iran on American conditions.
Due to this, the tour of US Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan has been stopped for the time being. However, according to the report of The New York Times, the tour has not been completely canceled but has been put on “hold” so that it can be restarted at short notice if the situation improves.
JD Vance’s tour put on hold
It is clear from this incident that the distrust between the two countries still remains deep. On one hand America is adopting pressure tactics, while on the other hand Iran is adamant on its conditions. In such a situation, the proposed second round of talks in Islamabad is currently stuck in uncertainty.
The situation regarding the proposed US-Iran talks in Islamabad is becoming increasingly complex. According to the plan, JD Vance was to reach Pakistan on Tuesday, so that talks could be held with Iran on Wednesday. But during this time, the ongoing ceasefire between America and Iran also reached the point of ending on the night of Tuesday-Wednesday.
Trump refuses to extend ceasefire
Amidst Iran’s tough stance, President Donald Trump has clearly refused to extend the ceasefire. On the other hand, Iran has also refused to participate in the Islamabad talks, which has dealt a major blow to diplomatic efforts.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, playing the role of mediator, has appealed to both the countries to extend the ceasefire for at least 14 days, so that time and environment can be created for talks. On one hand there is a danger of the ceasefire ending and on the other hand the talks seem to be at a standstill. In such a situation, there is a possibility of further increase in tension in the area.
