Reuters reported that there was firing and rocket propelled grenade attack in the North East area of Oman. The bridge of a container ship flying the flag of Liberia has been damaged. An IRGC gunboat was coming close to the ship. Only after this the ship was attacked. At present all the crew members present in the ship are safe. There were three people on the gunboat.
A second container ship was also fired upon about eight nautical miles west of Iran. There was no damage to this Panama flagged ship. Its crew members are safe.
Maritime security sources said a third container ship was also fired upon as it was passing out of Hormuz, about eight nautical miles west of Iran.
News agency Reuters quoted the captain of the Greek container as saying that there was no radio contact before the incident. Also, permission was given to pass through Hormuz, only then the ship reached that route.
Indian ships were also fired upon on April 18
Earlier on April 18, there was an incident of firing on two Indian ships. India had strongly opposed this to Iran. An audio related to this was also revealed. In this, there was a conversation between the captain present on the Indian ship and the Iranian army. In this the ship captain had said that he was allowed to proceed. But now firing is being done. They should be allowed to return. After this, the Indian Navy had made it clear in its advisory that do not cross this route without our permission. Also maintain distance from Lark Island.
