Delhi to Kolkata Flight Price Surge: As the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 are approaching, the fares of flights from Delhi to Kolkata are increasing. The reason for this is that many people living in Delhi are returning to their city to cast their votes. Due to which the demand for tickets has suddenly increased. In such a situation, people who are booking tickets at the last moment have to pay more money.
Talking about elections, the Election Commission of India is conducting voting in two main phases for the 294-seat assembly. Voting will take place on April 23 and April 29. Whereas the results will be declared on 4 May 2026.
Why did flight ticket prices increase?
The biggest reason for this increase in the prices of flights from Delhi to Kolkata is the sudden increase in demand. Generally the fare for this route ranges between Rs 5000 to Rs 7000.
Due to elections, a large number of people are returning to their cities. In such a situation, airlines increase fares according to demand. For this reason, tickets have become more expensive than usual.

There is a sharp increase in the fares of flights going from Delhi to Kolkata. Today i.e. on 23rd April, the non-stop flight ticket has reached around Rs 32,000. Whereas the fare for some other flights has reached Rs 36,000. Overall, ticket prices remain quite high at this time, which is hurting the pockets of passengers.

The fares for flights have increased significantly since the beginning of the elections. Ticket prices on April 24 remain between Rs 13,000 to Rs 24,000. Whereas the fare for some non-stop flights is reaching Rs 32,000. Overall, due to high demand the prices still remain quite high.
Prices have increased next week also
The second phase of voting in West Bengal is going to be held on 29th April, hence just before that, flight tickets are not available cheap even for 28th April. On this day, the fare from Delhi to Kolkata has reached around Rs 15,000. Whereas in some flights it remains around Rs 13,000.
