Situation worsened after Trump’s threat

The Indian Embassy has issued the advisory at a time when US President Donald Trump has issued strict orders regarding the increasing security threat in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has ordered the US Navy to immediately destroy any boat involved in suspicious activities. He also asked to intensify mine-sweeping operations.

Donald Trump said in a post on the social media account ‘Truth Social’, ‘I have ordered the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any boat, no matter how small, that is laying mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. There should not be the slightest hesitation in this. He said that our mine sweepers are currently clearing Hormuz.

Referring to the ongoing tussle over leadership in Iran, he also claimed American control over the regional situation and sea routes. Trump said, ‘Iran is finding it very difficult to understand who its real leader is. Even they themselves don’t know clearly. There is a huge internal tussle going on between the ‘hardliner’ (strict stance) and ‘moderate’ (moderate stance) groups.
