8th Pay Commission: Discussions about the 8th Pay Commission for central employees have intensified. It is being said that there may be a bumper increase in the minimum basic salary of the employees. In this sequence, a round of meetings is going to start in Delhi between 28th April and 30th April.

In a notice dated April 24, the commission said it had received a large number of requests from employee unions and associations for meetings to be held in Delhi between April 28 and April 30. Due to paucity of time, all the requests cannot be fulfilled during this period, but the Commission has assured that more meetings will be organized in the coming months in Delhi as well as in various states and union territories.

What will be the meetings?

According to the notice issued by Sahay, direct communication will be held with various employee unions and organizations during these three days. Its purpose is to discuss the demands of employee organizations, salary structure and pension benefits. National Council-JCM (NC-JCM) has already prepared its demands. The last date for submission of memorandum is 30 April 2026.

What will be the minimum salary?

Amidst all these developments, expectations are being raised that the minimum salary will be increased to Rs 72000 under the 8th Pay Commission. This demand has been made especially by the Bharatiya Immunity Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS). This defense sector organization has demanded that the minimum salary should be Rs 72000 and the fitment factor should be 4.0 on the basis of 86.76 percent increase in per capita income. At the same time, NC-JCM has demanded minimum basic pay of Rs 69000 and fitment factor of 3.83.
