Himachal Panchayat election dates have been announced. Elections will be held in three phases for 3754 Panchayats of Himachal. According to the State Election Commission, nominations will be filed on May 7, 8 and 11 from 11 am to 3 pm. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on May 12. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names on May 14. Election symbols will be allotted on May 15. Voting will take place from 7 am to 3 pm.

Himachal Election Officer Anil Khachi said that the first phase of elections will be held on May 26, the second phase on May 28 and the third phase on May 30. Counting of votes for Pradhan-Vice Pradhan and ward members will take place on the same day after voting, while the counting of Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad votes will take place at the development block headquarters from 9 am on May 31.

Voting in all except 4 Panchayats of Kullu

In Himachal, elections will be held for the posts of 3754 Pradhans and the same number of Deputy Pradhans. Elections will be held for 21654 ward members. Elections will be held for the posts of 1769 Panchayat Samiti and 251 Zilla Parishad members. Overall, elections are going to be held on 31182 posts. Apart from the four Panchayats of Kullu, elections will be held in all the Panchayats of Himachal.

Of these posts, 2502 posts are reserved for Scheduled Caste, 4607 posts for Scheduled Caste women, 713 for Scheduled Tribe, 1216 posts for Scheduled Tribe women, 177 for Other Backward Class – while 229 posts are reserved for Other Backward Class women. In these elections, 9604 posts are reserved for women, while 12166 are unreserved posts. Overall, 15656 posts are reserved for women in Himachal Panchayat elections.

How many voters are there?

There are total 50 lakh 79 thousand 48 voters in Himachal. Out of which 25 lakh 67 thousand 770 are male voters, 25 lakh 11 thousand 249 are female voters. Paonta’s Bhatwali Panchayat has the maximum number of 4623 voters while Pooh’s Gram Panchayat Sumra has the least number of 178 voters. 21,678 polling stations have been set up for Panchayat elections. The highest polling station is situated at an altitude of 4587 meters in Langana Kaumik, Gram Panchayat of Kaza of Lahaul Spiti.

There will be holiday on the day of voting

There will be a public holiday on the day of voting. An expenditure of Rs 1 lakh has been fixed for the Zilla Parishad. Whereas in other elections there is no determination of any kind of expenditure. With this, Model Code of Conduct has come into force in Himachal.
