‘There is no rash in the house, but I have gone to stop the wars of the world.’ This saying fits Pakistan perfectly. Burdened with debt, Pakistan is struggling with financial crisis. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif himself has admitted that the war between Iran and America has caused huge economic loss to him.
‘US-Iran broke Pakistan’s back’
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday (April 29) that the US-Iran war has badly hurt Pakistan economically. He said that the economic progress achieved by Pakistan in the last two years has been dealt a serious blow. He stressed that his government will continue efforts to reduce tensions between the two sides and restore peace in West Asia.
What did the Pak Prime Minister say?
Pak PM said, since the US-Iran war started in February, there has been a huge increase in fuel prices in the global markets. He said, ‘Before the war, the weekly oil expenditure was about 300 million US dollars, which has increased to 800 million US dollars today.’ According to Geo TV news, during the cabinet meeting here, Shahbaz said that a task force is monitoring the situation daily. He said that collective efforts are needed to deal with the challenges.

Information given to the cabinet
Briefing the cabinet about the progress made in US-Iran talks and Pakistan’s efforts to reduce tensions in the region, Shehbaz Sharif said that Islamabad has made sincere efforts to promote regional stability. He said that talks between Iran and America started in Islamabad on April 11 and lasted for 21 hours. He also said that currently there is a ceasefire between the two sides.
Pakistan is making plans for the second round of talks
Talking about Araghchi’s brief visits to Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow at the end of the week, he said, ‘Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reached Pakistan with his team for the second phase of talks. Important meetings were held with him. The Prime Minister said, before leaving for Russia, I spoke to the Iranian Foreign Minister on phone, in which he assured me that all his meetings in Oman were held with full sincerity and that he would soon give a positive reply after consulting the leadership of his country. He expressed hope that the conflict would end soon. Pakistan is planning to host the second round of talks between America and Iran.
