West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026: Before the counting in West Bengal, politics is at its peak. This time the temperature is high regarding the strongroom. In such a situation, the Election Commission is facing many challenges before the counting. Meanwhile, the election war continues between BJP and TMC. Allegations of irregularities in the strongroom have also surfaced on Friday. This time these accused were put on behalf of BJP. Earlier on Thursday, TMC had staged a dharna amid allegations of suspicious activities inside Khudiram Anushilan Kendra.
According to news agency PTI, on Friday BJP leaders complained to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Bidhannagar. He alleged that a strong room was opened without any official permission. The report also states that six officers have been suspended in this case.
What allegations did BJP leader Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay make?
BJP leader and candidate from Bidhannagar Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay has said that the strong room was opened before the scheduled time. It had been opened at least 10 times. Mukhopadhyay has said that we have a strong room here. We were given a schedule. It was told when it would be opened. Accordingly, we all reached there on time. On reaching there we saw that the strong room was already open.
At that time it was not being opened, rather it was already open. We raised the question that when the work had not even started properly, why was it opened so soon? Later, upon enquiry, we were told that this strong room had been opened not once or twice, but at least ten times before. He has not been able to answer any of our questions.
TMC staged a protest on Thursday
Earlier on Thursday, a big political controversy had arisen in Bengal. This incident happened just a day before the second and final phase of voting. Here TMC alleged irregularities in some strong rooms in central Kolkata. After this, Kunal Ghosh and Shashi Panja staged a protest outside Khudiram Anushilan Kendra. He alleged that live footage of CCTV cameras showed outsiders inside the strong room.
They were tampering with the ballot papers kept in the machines. Party workers and supporters were present outside the strongroom till 3.30 pm. Ghosh said that suddenly an email was sent informing that the strongroom would be reopened at 4 pm. We contacted our workers. He said he had gone. Then we reached here quickly. Now we are not being allowed to go inside. BJP is being called.
Mamta Banerjee made a big allegation
Here, after this entire incident, Mamata Banerjee said that you should guard the counting centres. If necessary, I will also go and guard my area. Candidates should keep themselves safe. Stay awake. If I can do it, you can do it too. There is a plan to change the machines during transportation of EVMs. Don’t take it lightly. I am sure that the exit poll data shown on television was broadcast from a BJP office at 1.08 pm on Wednesday. Pressure was put on a section of the media to publish it. Our number can also reach 230. We are definitely crossing the figure of 226.
