The Indian government has made it clear that its ban on bilateral sports relations with Pakistan is going to continue. The Sports Ministry confirmed this on Wednesday. Along with this, if India hosts any multilateral event, then Pakistani athletes will be allowed to come to India. Indian team and players will be able to participate in all those events in which Pakistani team or players will be participating.

The Sports Ministry issued an official statement saying that as far as bilateral events are concerned, Indian athletes will not go to Pakistan to play, nor will Pakistani players be allowed to come to India.

India will continue to follow Olympic and international sports guidelines and is seeking to host the Olympics in 2036 and the Commonwealth Games in 2030. The ministry said that India will follow international sports guidelines regarding multilateral events organized in India or abroad. Therefore, any Indian team or player will participate in all those events in which Pakistani players will also be participating.

India had imposed a ban on bilateral sports relations with Pakistan for the first time in August last year. Even at that time, the Sports Ministry had made its stand clear that India would not interfere in any multilateral sports event unless Pakistan was its host.

This policy also applies to cricket. Let us tell you that Team India last went to Pakistan in 2006 and took part in a bilateral cricket series, after that the Indian team has never gone to Pakistan.
