Tamil film star and TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today. He assumed the responsibility as Chief Minister as soon as he took oath at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai at around 10:30 in the morning. During this period, Vijay’s style remained different and a topic of discussion.

While taking oath as Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu, leaders usually wear traditional white vesti and shirt, whereas Vijay deviated from this tradition and chose a modern formal look. He took oath wearing a white shirt, black pants and formal shoes. His style looked exactly like a film hero and attracted people’s attention. Political experts believe that this look of Vijay could be an attempt to connect with the youth and give a message of change. Vijay tried to show through his attire that his government would work with modern thinking and in a new way.

Strict arrangements for Vijay’s swearing in ceremony

Till now, most of the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu have been taking oath in traditional Tamil attire. MG Ramachandran was famous for his white vest, shirt, cap and glasses. M. Karunanidhi was always seen in yellow shawl and traditional clothes. O. Panneerselvam, EK Palaniswami and MK Stalin also took oath as Chief Minister wearing white vest and shirt. In such a situation, Vijay’s formal look is being considered as a new change in the politics of Tamil Nadu. Tight security arrangements were made in Chennai for Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony. A large number of policemen were deployed inside and outside the Nehru Stadium. Thousands of supporters were present at the ceremony and an atmosphere of enthusiasm was visible in the entire area.

9 TVK leaders also took oath as ministers

Along with Vijay, 9 leaders of his party TVK also took oath as ministers. These include names like Thiru N Anand, CTR Nirmal Kumar, Arun Raj, Aadhav Arjuna, Keerthana, Rajmohan, Venkataramanan and Sengottaiyan. TVK MLA Keertana was the most talked about because she took oath as a minister at the age of 29. She has been elected MLA from Sivakasi seat and has become the youngest minister of Vijay cabinet. Vijay’s party TVK had won 107 seats in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. However, 118 seats were required to form the government. After this, parties like Congress, CPI, CPI-M, VCK and IUML supported Vijay, after which the path for his government was cleared.
