The match played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 became one of the most exciting matches of this season. There was a tough competition between the two teams on the challenging pitch of Raipur, but in the end (RCB) won on the last ball and almost eliminated Mumbai Indians from the tournament.
RCB had a very bad start while chasing the target of 167 runs. The team appeared to be under pressure after early wickets fell, but experienced all-rounder Krunal Pandya played a brilliant inning and took control of the team. He took the match till the last over by playing an important inning of 73 runs.
For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly and gave only 3 runs in the 19th over. After this the match seemed completely in favor of Mumbai.
However, the real suspense was about the last over. Everyone expected that captain Suryakumar Yadav would give the responsibility to an experienced or reliable bowler, but he expressed confidence in young all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa. This decision ultimately proved costly for Mumbai Indians. In the last over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar batted brilliantly under pressure and scored important runs. He gave RCB a memorable victory by hitting a four on the last ball. This short but effective innings of Bhuvneshwar changed the entire course of the match.

After the match was over, questions were asked to Suryakumar Yadav regarding the last over. He openly defended his young player. Surya said that Raj Angad Bawa was continuously practicing death overs and this season he has proved himself as a better all-rounder.

He also said that Bava had almost won the match. Suryakumar Yadav did not consider bowling alone responsible for the defeat. He said that the batting of Mumbai Indians could not perform as per expectations and the team was able to score about 10 to 15 runs less. It was clearly visible from the captain’s statement that he was completely satisfied with his decision.
With this victory, Royal Challengers Bangalore has reached first place in the points table with 14 points. The net run rate of the team is also better than all other teams. On the other hand, this season of Mumbai Indians was very disappointing. The team, which has scored only 6 points in 11 matches, is now almost out of the race for the playoffs.
