The heartbeats of about 18 lakh students who have appeared for the 12th class examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are fast. Everyone is asking the same question that when will the result come? Earlier there were speculations that the results could come this week, but inside news has now taken a new turn. According to the latest information, the board is facing some technical hurdles in the evaluation of copies, due to which there is a possibility of some delay in the result.
Challenges faced in using OSM
Let us tell you that CBSE this year implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) system to make the evaluation process high-tech. Under this system, the copies had to be scanned and checked digitally on the computer. The board believed that this would reduce mistakes and the result would be ready quickly. According to sources, this process has become a headache for the board. Quoting sources, news is coming that due to OSM the work of checking copies has become very slow. Many technical mistakes are also coming to light while loading the copies in the software and checking them. Because of this, the work which should have been done quickly is being hampered.
Why did the process of checking copies by hand start?
The surprising thing is that in the era of ‘Digital India’, the need to check the copies manually again has come. According to ABP News sources, about 800 such answer sheets reached a government school in North East Delhi on Monday (May 11) morning, which could not be scanned in the digital system. These copies mainly include subjects like English and Economics. Due to technical glitches, these could not be shown on the computer, so now teachers have to check them the old way with pen and paper.
Internet becomes villain in remote areas
Connectivity is also a major reason for OSM failure. According to the information, the internet speed is very low in the examination centers which are in remote areas or villages. Despite several attempts, the copies could not be scanned and uploaded to the server. To maintain the pace of evaluation, the board has no option but to manually check these copies.
Result may come after May 15
CBSE officials have not officially announced any date, but the Head Examiner (HE) and Assistant Head Examiner (AHE) believe that due to these constraints, the result date may get postponed. Earlier it was believed that the results would be declared between May 10 and 15, but now sources say that the results are expected to be declared between May 15 and May 20. However, board officials say that most of the evaluation has been completed and now only the final stage of processing is left.
The board formed special teams
To reduce the delay, CBSE has now started work on ‘war footing’. Five special teams have been formed to dispose of the pending copies expeditiously. Three experienced teachers have been appointed in each team, who are completing the manual checking work one by one day and night. The board is trying to freeze the data completely by the end of this week.
Keep an eye on DigiLocker and official website
Recently, an update regarding the results was also released on DigiLocker app, due to which there was a stir among the students. Actually, after the release of the result, students will be able to download their digital marksheet from DigiLocker only. Apart from this, the link will also be activated on the official website of CBSE.
