Pahalgam terror attack: After the ruthless murder of 26 innocent Indians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday (22 April 2025), India announced several big decisions to teach Pakistan a lesson. On Wednesday (23 April 2025), a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was held under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi.

After this meeting, five important decisions were taken, including stopping the Indus River Water Agreement. After the announcement of these tough decisions in India, the Government of Pakistan called a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on Thursday (24 April 2025). All three army officers also attended this meeting chaired by Pakistan’s PM Shahbaz Sharif.

Pakistan retaliated after NSC meeting

Pakistan took several retaliation after the NSC meeting. In response to the announcement of the closure of the Wagah border by India, Pakistan also announced the closure of the Wagah border. When India issued advisory to Pakistan to leave the country, Pakistan also issued an order to all Indians present in their country to leave the country by 30 April. Many decisions were taken in the meeting of the National Security Committee of Pakistan. Pakistan said that if India stopped water, it would be considered a war.

India announced the suspension of visa services for Pakistani citizens with immediate effect. In response, Pakistan decided to cancel all the visas issued to Indians under the SAARC visa scheme. All Indians who are in Pakistan have been ordered to leave the country within 48 hours.

‘Sindhu water 24 crore Pakistanis lifeline’

Pakistan rejected India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgam terror attack and said that it is a lifeline for 24 crore Pakistanis. Panic, Pakistan accused India of violating international law. Fearing India’s action, Pakistan said that it has no hand in the Pahalgam attack. In a statement issued by Pakistan PMO, it was said that India’s decision will increase political tension and will hindered establishing peace in the region.

Pakistan said that the Indus Water Treaty is an international treaty arbitrary by the World Bank and there is no provision for unilateral suspension. On suspension of Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan said that this is the lifeline of its 240 million people and its availability will be kept safe at all costs.

Pakistan has said that it clearly condemns terrorism. Pakistan banned all trade with India, including trade through third countries. If there is any kind of threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and security, there will be a strong response in every way.
