Discussion is also going on regarding the new T20 captain of the Indian cricket team, because according to a report, considering the personal performance of Suryakumar Yadav, he is being considered to be removed from the captaincy. Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson seem to be strong contenders as the new T20 captain. Meanwhile, former cricketer Ravi Shastri advocated for Sanju to be made the captain in the ICC review.
Ravi Shastri believes that Sanju Samson had the ability from the beginning, but he has been in excellent form for some time and he will show even better performance in the coming 2-3 years. The former cricketer considers him a strong contender for captaincy in T20 because he has also captained Rajasthan Royals in many seasons.
What did Ravi Shastri say?
Speaking to Sanjana Ganesan in ICC Review, Shastri said, “India may be looking for a new captain by the next T20 World Cup (2028), it will also depend on how Suryakumar Yadav performs. But Sanju Samson has presented himself as a strong contender for captaincy, he has also commanded Rajasthan Royals.”

He further said, “Sanju’s place in the team is confirmed. He comes at the top of the batting order and is a very aggressive batsman, so I think this is just the beginning and you are going to see a lot more from Sanju in the next 2-3 years.”
Ravi Shastri does not think Sanju Samson’s consistency is an issue now. He said, “I think Samson has put an end to all those questions. The ability was there in him from the beginning. The fans were disappointed because he could not do full justice to his ability.”
