Big news has come for lakhs of medical candidates across the country. The new date for the canceled NEET-2026 exam has now been decided. National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that this examination will now be held again on June 21, 2026. With this news, there is both relief and new worry in the minds of students. Relief because there is extra time for preparation and worry because the pressure of re-examination has come to the fore again.
For the last few days, students, parents and coaching institutes were all waiting for the new date. After allegations of paper leak and questions raised on the transparency of the examination, the Central Government had handed over the investigation of the case to the CBI. After this, NTA assured that the re-examination will be conducted in a completely fair and safe environment.
Extra time given for preparation
In a big exam like NEET, every day preparation is important. Now students have got additional time of about 35 days. Many students are considering this as a golden opportunity, while some are calling it a new beginning of mental pressure. Because once the exam has been conducted and then it is announced again, then it is not easy to bring the mind back to the same rhythm. More than 23 lakh students across the country had appeared in this examination.
Now preparing for computer based mode
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that in the coming time, NEET exam will be conducted in computer based mode (CBT) like IIT-JEE. This time too many new security steps will be taken in the examination process. It has also been said that students will be given 15 minutes extra time. It is believed that incidents like paper leaks can be prevented to a great extent through CBT mode.

Mixed reaction from students
After the new date came out, reactions of the students have also started coming forward. Student Shubham says that we are getting 35 days time for re-exam, this is a good thing. But the question on NTA is whether this time the exam will be completely safe? What about our hard work? The year is getting worse. If the examination is conducted in CBT mode then the chances of paper leak will be reduced.
A student named Vikas said that the exam will be held again on June 21. Our hope from NTA is that this time the paper should not be leaked. Our hard work should be successful. The system will be better with CBT mode. What will happen to the country if those who take advantage of leaking papers become doctors in the future?
Many other students also say that repeated incidents of paper leaks are a threat to the future of the country. The decision of re-NEET is right. People leak the paper due to which the cut off goes very high. Due to which we are left behind.
