In the 59th match of IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Chennai Super Kings badly by 7 wickets. After this, LSG captain Rishabh Pant was fined heavily for maintaining a slow over rate. Pant’s batting could not come in this match, the team achieved the target with 20 balls remaining.
“Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during his team’s match against Chennai Super Kings on Friday,” a statement issued by the IPL said. Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh.
The statement further said, “Because under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with offenses related to minimum over-rate, this was his team’s first offense of this edition, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh.”

In this match played at Ekana Stadium, Chennai Super Kings, batting first, scored 187 runs. Sanju Samson was out after scoring 20 runs and Rituraj Gaikwad was out after scoring 13 runs, Urvil Patel could also score only 6 runs. Karthik Sharma, who came at number four, played a brilliant inning of 71 runs in 42 balls. In the end Shivam Dubey scored 32 runs in 16 balls taking the score to 187.
