The race for IPL 2026 playoffs has become very exciting. The situation is becoming clearer match by match. So far, Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only team which has secured a place in the playoffs. The league stage is about to end, but three playoff slots are still vacant. Know here how many teams have been out of the playoff race and which ones are still in the race.
Only RCB qualified
Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a 23-run win against Punjab Kings on Sunday and secured a place in the playoffs. RCB has a chance to finish in the top-2, because it has 18 points in 13 matches and Bengaluru is the only team which can reach 20 points in the points table. RCB’s last league match will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 22 May.
so many teams are out
Till now, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are the only two teams which are out of the playoff race. Both Mumbai and Lucknow have been able to register only four wins in 12 matches so far. Both have eight points each and are present in the bottom 2 places in the table.

7 teams and slots only three
This means that seven teams are still in the race for the playoffs, but only 3 of them will be able to qualify. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, these 7 teams are still hopeful of qualification.
