Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag expressed his displeasure with his own team after the defeat against Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan, which appeared to be in a strong position in the race for the playoffs, performed against Delhi in such a way that it left the captain extremely disappointed. After the match was over, Parag clearly said that if the team continues to play like this, then it does not deserve a place in the top-4. Delhi Capitals achieved the target of 194 runs given by Rajasthan in 19.2 overs. Both Rajasthan’s bowling and fielding looked very weak. For this reason, the captain’s anger came out openly after the match.

Rajasthan lost its grip after batting

Riyan Parag admitted that at one time his team was in a completely strong position in the match. He said that till 14 overs the team was moving towards a big score, but as soon as he was out, the batting pace broke down. According to Parag, on the kind of pitch, Rajasthan should have reached at least 220 to 230 runs. But the team could not maintain that momentum in the last overs. The captain clearly said that the batsmen did not convert the good start into a big score, due to which the team had to suffer the consequences.

Anger erupted over bowling and fielding

The biggest reason for Rajasthan’s defeat was poor bowling and fielding. Delhi’s batsmen scored runs easily and Rajasthan’s bowlers completely failed to create pressure. Riyan Parag said after the match that the team’s fielding performance was very poor and one cannot expect to win the trophy with such performance in a big league like IPL. He admitted that the team’s performance in the last few matches has not been as per expectations.

Defense of the decision to give bowling to Ferreira

The decision to hand over the bowling to Donovan Ferreira was much discussed during the match. Many fans and cricket experts called it a risky move. However, Parag defended his decision saying that there were two left-handed batsmen present at the crease at that time and he felt that this option could prove to be better.
He admitted that the strategy was not successful, but the team has to take chances.

Parag does not want to depend on other teams

Rajasthan is still in the race for the playoffs, but now its hopes are also based on the results of other teams. On this, Riyan Parag said that he does not believe in such captaincy, where the team has to wait for the defeat of others. He clearly said that Rajasthan had a great opportunity to qualify on its own, but the team could not capitalize on it. Now his biggest priority will be to perform better in the next two matches.
