If your dream is to become an officer in the Indian Army, then there is good news for you. UPSC has started the application process for CDS II exam 2026. Through this recruitment, youth will get a chance to become officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The special thing is that candidates who have graduated from any stream can apply for this recruitment. The application process has been kept online and candidates can fill the form sitting at home. This recruitment examination will be conducted on 13 September 2026. Admit cards will be issued a few days before the examination, which candidates will be able to download online.
How many posts will be recruited
A total of 451 posts will be filled under this recruitment drive. These include Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy (OTA). Maximum 293 posts have been kept for Officers Training Academy. Whereas 100 posts have been kept for Indian Military Academy, 32 posts for Air Force Academy and 26 posts have been kept for Indian Naval Academy. In such a situation, this is being considered a great opportunity for the youth who want to make a career in defense services.
Who can apply
To apply for this recruitment, it is necessary for the candidate to be a graduate. For IMA and OTA, Bachelor’s degree in any subject will be valid. Whereas for Naval Academy, engineering degree has been made necessary. If a candidate wants to apply for Air Force Academy, then he must have Physics and Maths subjects in 12th along with graduation.
age limit
For CDS II exam 2026, the minimum age of the candidate has been kept at 20 years and maximum age at 24 years. Reserved category candidates will be given age relaxation as per government rules.
application fee
Talking about the application fee, General, OBC and EWS category candidates will have to deposit a fee of Rs 200. Whereas the application for SC, ST and women candidates has been kept completely free. Fees can be paid through online mode.

What will the selection process be like?
Candidates will be selected in CDS recruitment on the basis of written examination, interview and medical test. Candidates who pass the written examination will be called for SSB interview. After this, there will be a medical examination and then the final merit list will be released. This examination is considered very important for the candidates who want to become officers in the army. Every year lakhs of youth participate in this examination.
