Summer Health Tips: At present, the effect of intense heat and heatwave is being seen in many states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, Nautapa is going to last from May 25 to June 2. During this time, the heat of the sun is considered to be the highest and the temperature can exceed 45 degrees in many areas. Keeping this in view, the Ministry of AYUSH and the Health Department have issued special advice for the people.

The ministry has suggested many home remedies to keep the body cool and hydrated. The most discussed among these is the advice of drinking milk mixed with sugar. The ministry says that it can help in giving energy to the body and protecting it from water deficiency. Apart from this, buttermilk, coconut water, lemon water, sattu and seasonal fruits have also been said to provide relief from heat.

Why is milk with sugar considered beneficial?

In extreme heat, water and essential minerals come out of the body through sweat. This causes problems like weakness, fatigue and dizziness. According to experts, essential elements like calcium, potassium, protein and water are found in milk, which help in giving strength to the body. Whereas sugar works to provide instant energy. For this reason, the Ministry of AYUSH has advised to drink milk with sugar during summer. Especially during the rainy season when the risk of heat stroke is high, it can give some relief to the body. Some doctors say that cold milk helps in cooling the body from inside and can reduce weakness. Even in Ayurveda, milk is considered to keep the body calm.

Experts say that it should be adopted only as a home remedy and not as a complete solution to avoid heatwave. Besides, doctors have also said that drinks like ORS, coconut water, buttermilk and lemonade are necessary. He says that the most important thing in summer is to ensure that there is no shortage of water and essential minerals in the body. Therefore, instead of relying only on sugary milk, it is important to eat a balanced diet and drink more water.
