Another blow to AIADMK, fourth MLA resigns, joins Vijay’s party

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLA Esaki Subaya on Tuesday met Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JC D Prabhakar and submitted his resignation letter, making him the fourth MLA from the party to resign in the last two days.

Ambasamudram MLA submitted his resignation letter to the Assembly Speaker at the Secretariat. The Chairman did not accept it because it was not in accordance with the rules. After this, Subaya immediately took back the typed letter and within a few minutes presented a handwritten letter which was accepted by Prabhakar.

Subaya is among the rebel MLAs who have opposed former state ministers C.V. Shanmugam and S. P. Velumani and voted in favor of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government during the trust vote in the Assembly on 13 May.

AIADMK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel, P. Satyabhama and S. Jayakumar joined TVK on Monday evening, shortly after resigning from the post of MLA.

A party source said that all three are likely to get TVK tickets to contest the upcoming by-elections on the party’s ‘CT’ symbol.
