Amidst the West Asia war crisis, a meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers was held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday (26 May 2026). The foreign ministers of America, Japan and Australia participated in this meeting chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Regarding this big meeting held in Delhi, China says that the cooperation of ‘Quad’ countries should not be to target any third country.
China opposed QUAD meeting
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said, ‘Cooperation between countries should be conducive to regional peace, stability and prosperity and should not target any third party (country). We oppose forming special groups or getting involved in factional conflict.
America’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi attended this meeting. The foreign ministers said in a joint statement that they reaffirm their support for a free and open Indo-Pacific region that enables countries to develop the capacity and flexibility to chart their own course. He said that to this end, they have agreed to further enhance cooperation and pursue strong initiatives that will bring tangible benefits to the region.
China’s reaction on QUAD meeting
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, ‘China’s view regarding Quad has always been clear. We believe that cooperation between countries should be for regional peace. We oppose any special group that creates conflict among themselves. Quad countries together agreed to build a port in Fiji. Apart from this, countries signed agreements regarding critical minerals and energy security.
Foreign ministers gave message to China in QUAD meeting
Giving a message to China, the foreign ministers said in the statement, ‘We reiterate our strong opposition to any destabilizing or unilateral action that threatens peace and stability in the region, use of force or pressure. We express grave concern about the interference in the development of offshore resources, repeated interference with freedom of shipping and flight operations, and dangerous and coercive actions, including dangerous activities by military aircraft, coast guard and maritime militia vessels.
