Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) demanded a judicial inquiry and SIT investigation into allegations of alleged large-scale tampering in CBSE board exam results. He also raised the question why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet given any statement on this issue?
Rahul Gandhi shared a video post on social media platform X and attacked the government for choosing a Hyderabad-based company in the board’s digital assessment process. His move has sparked the On-Screen Marking (OSM) controversy, in which he has alleged that CBSE did not check the background of the company, bypassed the rules and gave the contract to it and also alleged nexus between the company management and the Modi government. However, CBSE immediately rejected the allegations made by the opposition leader.
On Rahul Gandhi’s allegations CBSE responded to
CBSE issued a statement in this regard on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) saying, ‘CBSE rejects all allegations related to awarding the contract to Hyderabad-based company Coempt Edu Teck. These allegations are false, misleading and not based on facts.

The board said, ‘CBSE has completely followed the General Financial Rules in the entire process of awarding the contract to the agency. CBSE had issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) on the Central Public Procurement Portal on August 28, 2025 for the digital evaluation of the board examinations of the year 2026 and the contract was awarded to the qualified bidder. CBSE issued this statement in response to the video post shared by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the X platform.

What allegations did Rahul Gandhi make in the video post??
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, ‘There has been massive manipulation in the CBSE exam results, due to which lakhs of children of the country and their parents are in shock. And Modi ji? As always – no answers, no responsibility, no shame. The company COEMPT which got this responsibility had earlier done the same feat in Telangana in 2019 under the name of Globarena. Name changed – but intentions remain the same, nature remains the same. Everyone knew the history, yet the contract was given. The future of 18.5 lakh children was handed over to such a company and no one cared. This is not a mistake – this is a well-planned conspiracy.
Along with this, he also raised some questions in the post. In which he asked-
- Why was the CBSE contract given to COEMPT and at whose behest?
- Which rules and procedures were bypassed and this contract was given to this company?
- COEMPT has already been embroiled in controversies in the name of Globarena, why did CBSE not know this? Why weren’t background checks done?
- What is the relationship between COEMPT management and Modi government?
There should be an independent judicial inquiry into the scam: Rahul Gandhi
He said, ‘We demand that an independent judicial inquiry and SIT be formed immediately to bring forward the real culprits of this entire scam. Gen Z friends of CBSE – Your hard work, your future, no one will be able to steal it. We will get to the bottom of this conspiracy and root out this corruption.
